Driscoll Cattle Company started out as Hannah Charolais Ranch in 1957 when my grandfather Warren Hannah bought his first charolais cattle. From the time of it's inception, Hannah Charolais was very active on the state level as well as national.
In the late 1960's Hannah Charolais gained national notoriety through exhibiting cattle from Houston TX, to Minot ND, and from Timmonium Md, to Denver Co. Hannah Charolais owned the very first certified meat sire of any breed in the state of South Dakota, this sire, Sir Tam 605 was one of just a handfull of charolais bulls to acheive this status.
Another noted sire of that day was Mr. Hannah 2004. This bull sired many show steers for a man by the Name of Charlie Hill of Rose, NE. These steers won the carload show in Omaha for years running.
Warren Hannah, along with Arnold Wienk of Lake Preston, brought the first Full French Charolais bull to the state of South Dakota, Facco C09 1465-67. In 1971 Hannah charolais exhibited a pen of 5 Facco C09 daughters at the second annual World of Heifers Sale in Kansas City ending in their exportation to the Bahama Islands.
Today every female in the Charolais herd can be traced back to one or more of these legendary sires. These are some of the most time proven genetics you can find in the whole country.
In 1994 I was fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase my Grandfathers ranch. My dad, Bill Driscoll, was already involved in his own farming and ranching operation nearby so this provided a great opprotunity for me.
In 1995 I added a handful of Red Angus cows purchased from Tony DeToy of Brandon SD.
Today, along with my dad, we manage three seperate herds of cattle, Charolais, Red Angus, and a herd of commercial cows that we breed to Charolais, Angus, and Red Angus bulls.
